Chicago Here We Come

In fourteen days we will be taking good 'ole Amtrak to Chicago. I am so excited. It has been a while since just the two of us got away. We will be staying in the Hyatt Regency on Wacker right by the river. We got a good deal, at least I think we got a good deal. We are leaving on May 13 and coming home on May 15. It wasn't until after we booked our trip that we realized this is mother's day week-end.(Perhaps that is why we got a deal) I have a feeling that there are a few people that are not going to be too happy to find out that we won't be in town that day, but it is too late.

So far we are planning on going to Chinatown, Millenium Park, Lincoln Park Zoo, and we are trying to find a good church to go to in downtown Chicago. We're also planning on walking the mile too. And it would be nice if we could find a cheap comedy club or theater or something to go to. If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. We went to Chicago a little over a year ago, and we're trying not to repeat things that we did last year.

Tara,
We've stayed at that Hyatt on Wacker...and loved it!
I hope you have a really fun time in the city.

Not cheap, but if tickets are available, Wicked is an amazing show.

Also, we saw a Second City comedy/theatre production of Romeo and Juliet in the theater out at the end of Navy Pier a few summers ago. It was great...I'm not sure what is playing there now, but sometimes that is slightly less expensive than the big shows.

The last time we were in Chicago we saw a Frank Sinatra musical review in a little theater called the Mercury Theater. I know there are lots of little theaters like that around town that would have smaller, less extravagent (and less expensive) shows.
Have fun!

thank you so much for your suggestions. we are actually planning on going to a Second City comedy....called Iraqtile Dysfunction which looks pretty funny. but i don't think that is at the end of navy pier.

we really wanted to see blue man.. but that is expensive and wicked is even more expensive, but we would like to see that too.
again thanks for the suggestions.
